The beginning: Year of the fire horse
And so it begins, again!
It's not that I had given up on the year of the snake (so yay for no quitting!), but while I was doing my sit-ups and push-ups regularly again for the last few months, I haven't hit my minimum number anymore. I did about half of my push-ups and sit-ups lately. Why? Probably because it wasn't realistic anymore to reach my 50,000, so the "minimum" that was a year ago, 140 was no longer a relevant number.
But as I reset all my trackers this morning on my Strides app, I looked at my achievements this past year and it's still pretty amazing. It's the first time I have something to really look at that represents my progress fairly accurately for the last 365 days. In previous years, I struggled way more with tracking as writing my reps on paper didn't really work for me. I restarted several times and missed many, many days of tracking. This year, while still not perfect and still missing some numbers, it's been a game-changer, and I feel way more confident about this part now.
In any case, back to square one and back to doing more than the minimum each day for as long as I can. I remember hitting 14,000 last year sometime in spring and being way ahead of the game. It didn't last unfortunatly but I felt really good and proud for a while!
One thing that I really like about this app is the visual graph showing your progress but also your patterns. I made a big mistake this morning, when I reset everything, I deleted my old trackers. I only thought about it after I was already done with a few. I did take screenshots of the rest of the individual graphs to compare next year. The app actually has an archive and downloading option, which I saw too late.
Anyway, I'm feeling excited and hyper motivated today. The energy of the fire horse is associated with courage, momentum and honest action! So that sounds more than appropriate as a motto for the start of my black belt candidate year!
