Who needs a rooster?
And so it is Tuesday again, another week already and I struggle to get these blogs out!
It was my most feared requirement when I committed to all of this but I realized quickly that blogging isn't actually as bad as I thought. I actually enjoy it when I get my alone time and finally have some peace and quiet to dig into my own little world with no interruptions. (problem #1)
So why am I struggling to get some blogs out? It's not the lack of ideas to write about, I have plenty in fact it's probably another reason for procrastination, there is just too much cluttered in my brain, and choice paralysis is a thing (problem#2). Alone time as dreamily mentioned above, there is next to none. I count my minutes and when I get them I try to invest all of it into my creative time. The changing of the season is not helping either. Early winter mornings are a great time to get some moments to ponder my own thoughts and write them down. Hot summer days require me to skip my morning routines and get myself out in the garden without delay. I can't stand the heat of the day, so mornings and evenings you will find me digging in the dirt. This also rearranges my creative and felting time, which is a struggle in the main season for gardening.
And last but not least I struggle to keep it short and sweet and get to a point. I'll try harder with that one to.
So, to address the root cause of my problems, I'll schedule my blogging for the next little while. I'll put some ideas on strips of paper and draw one if I can't nail down my topic otherwise. At least it's a plan and worth a try I realize all of my requirements are a trial and error and I have to readjust all the time.
On that note a quick update on my 50,000s. In one of my last blogs, I described how I was happy to have found a way to get 200 of each of my push-ups and sit-ups in every day in only 4 blocks. Well, that worked for a while until 4 blocks of 50 became a real chore and I noticed that two blocks started slipping away slowly. Time to adjust! In our last IHC meeting a couple of things came up that inspired me to try something different. One was, enjoying what we are doing and the other one taking cues as a reminder to get our numbers in. So I played around with this a bit and I will say it’s been a lot more fun. One day I decided to use every crow of a rooster to drop down and do 10 push-ups but with around 8 or 10 roosters in my coop I'd get my 50,000 done in no time at all, except I would have no time for anything else. My boys thought this was hilarious, I basically didn't get to leave the floor. Obviously, this was very short-lived as it's definitely not sustainable. I moved on to another method, I currently do 10 pushups every time I see a centipede. This seems to provide a good ratio when it comes to my numbers and I'm really enjoying meeting these critters. I will be trying a lot more different ones as my focus and workplace change throughout the weeks. I also noticed a positive side-effect with this strategy, I practice mindfulness and awareness throughout the day and I definitely learned something about my soil and my roosters (I have too many).🐓
I love the centipede cue for pushups, great idea!
ReplyDeleteIs it time for some of the roosters to go to freezer camp? I know I have a few too many that need to go there too.
ReplyDeleteLove the centipede cue!
